The Australian government has recently announced some important changes to the subclass 400 temporary work (short stay specialist) visa.
The Australian Government has released the 2024-25 nomination allocations for various states and territories, significantly impacting skilled migration pathways across the country.

Northern Territory: The NT has been allocated 1,600 nomination places, doubling the number from the previous year.
South Australia: With 3,800 skilled visa nomination places, South Australia sees an increase of 1,500 places from last year. The allocation includes 3,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and 800 for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).
Western Australia: WA has received 5,000 nomination places. Monthly invitation rounds will begin in August 2024, with no application fee for the state-nominated migration program. Additional employment contract arrangements are available for candidates invited through the General Stream – WASMOL – Schedule 1.
Queensland: Queensland has been allocated 1,200 skilled visa nomination places, equally split between the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).
New South Wales: NSW has secured 5,000 nomination places, with 3,000 for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and 2,000 for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491). Invitation rounds occur throughout the year without predetermined dates.
Tasmania: Tasmania has been allocated 2,860 skilled visa nomination places, with 2,100 for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and 760 for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491). The program will reopen soon.
Victoria: Victoria has announced an allocation of 5,000 places, with 3,000 for the 190 visa and 2,000 for the 491 visa.
Far North Queensland (FNQ) DAMA: The Cairns Chamber of Commerce awaits a Deed of Variation for additional TSMIT concessions and occupations. Updates include new skills assessing authorities and corrections to ENS 186 visa requirements.
